Uninstall VM Insights Agent Solution
To avoid incurring additional costs for data ingestion, Microsoft Azure has made some changes to ingestion pipelines in Azure that will start ingesting data collected by the dependency agent in your log analytics workspace without VM Insights solution. Now onwards you can ingest data collected by dependency agents without a VM Insights solution. So, there is no need for a dependency agent anymore. Therefore we can uninstall DependencyAgent from Azure Cloud VMs.
Steps to Disable or to uninstall the Dependency Agent:
Step 1: Login to the Azure portal with your sign in credentials.
Step 2: From Azure Portal access Virtual Machines >> from the list, select your Azure VM.
Step 3: On the left menu search for Extensions + applications or navigate to Settings >> Extensions + applications section >> select Extensions
> For windows Virtual Machines >> click on DependencyAgentWindows
> For linux Virtual Machines >> click on DependencyAgentLinux
Step 4: Now on the dependency agent extension properties page, select Uninstall
Step 5: Verify the notification.
You should see a message like the following:
Successfully deleted the virtual machine extension '<AzureVMName>/DependencyAgentWindows'.
